Walkways to Westminster | Access and Success
Walkways to Westminster is a college-access program for first-generation and underrepresented youth involved with Promise South Salt Lake, an initiative of the city of South Salt Lake to provide dynamic, highly specialized community and out-of-school-time programming to give all youth in the community the opportunity to succeed in life.
Mentoring relationships are at the heart of Walkways to Westminster, with Westminster students acting as mentors to elementary, junior high and high school students in South Salt Lake schools. Our students, many of whom are first-generation college students themselves, offer their knowledge and life experience to support their mentees. In turn, the mentoring relationship provides an opportunity for Westminster students to expand their perspectives, practice critical thinking skills, and grow their community.
