Outdoor Emergency Preparedness for Field-Based Programs
Field-based programs are a cornerstone of the Westminster experience, providing students with unique opportunities to learn and explore dynamic outdoor environments. These programs, which include the Geology Field Camp, OEL Field Semester, Desolation Canyon Field Study, Westminster Expedition, and MTSE field-based courses, benefit over 150 students annually. Each program immerses participants in hands-on, real-world learning, offering transformative experiences that extend far beyond the classroom.
However, the success of these programs relies on ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone involved. Your support for this project will provide critical emergency preparedness tools and training, including first aid kits, portable battery chargers, InReach communication devices, and wilderness first aid training for faculty and staff. These resources equip participants to handle unexpected challenges in remote and often unpredictable settings.
This project matters because it enables students and faculty to focus on exploration and discovery, knowing they are prepared to address emergencies. By funding this project, you help make outdoor learning accessible and safe for more students, removing barriers to participation and providing peace of mind to everyone involved.
