Practitioner in Residence | Honors College
Westminster College’s Honors College students engage in conversation across differences while learning how to explore multiple perspectives and to hear diverse voices. This initiative extends the reach of that approach beyond the classroom by sponsoring visiting experts to engage our community in conversation on pressing issues over a period of days.
Honors faculty will sponsor visiting experts tied to the subject matter of one of the nine Honors core seminars. Rather than delivering a one-hour evening lecture and having a glass of wine before departing, these content specialists will engage members of the Westminster community over 3-5 days in deep conversation in different settings.
For example, imagine a Ballet West dancer visiting in conjunction with “Arts & Performance” showing students how the body really moves, digging into wellness issues tied to physical conditioning, discussing diversity in the arts, and then teaching Honors Dean Richard Badenhausen how to plie in a dance workshop.
Student learning will be enriched by these outside voices and students will establish connections to communities beyond Westminster’s walls. And, faculty will have another tool at their disposal to round out their curriculum and partner with other academic units.
Your support of Westminster College’s Honors College will help make possible the vibrant, engaged learning experience our honors students seek.
