Honors College Community Time Fund
“Student and faculty attendance at Honors College events has skyrocketed this year due to them being scheduled during Community Time. Students are beginning to expect events at noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays and know they will see friends there. The additional resources from the Community Time fund allow us to purchase materials to support our programming, including the greatest incentive for hungry college students: food! Average attendance is up over 100%. Students themselves report a greater sense of community and professors note a much more engaged student body, which translates to greater learning in the classroom.” - Sophie Mackay, Student Honors Council President (’26)
__________Join us this year in supporting Westminster’s Community Time initiative, a 75-minute block of class-free time every Tuesday and Thursday at noon for our community to come together to learn, socialize, and have fun.
The Honors College has sponsored successful Community Time events like Speed Networking with Honors Alums, Pizza with Profs, Dine with the Deans, and a campus-wide digital detox day, where faculty, staff, and students lock up their cell phones in Nunemaker for the day to prompt reflections on their relationship with technology.
Bringing students, faculty, staff, and alums together in shared spaces is key to strengthening our sense of community and ongoing traditions. The Community Time fund will spur innovation around events that bring us all together–one of the defining features of a Westminster education–with a focus on programming that aligns with the university’s commitments to wellness, career confidence, leadership, and outdoor learning.
Give today to help the Honors College reach their goals of 150 gifts and $25,000!
Please note: We appreciate every gift and all levels of participation. Gifts made in quick succession will be counted as a single donation. Thank you for your support!
